Midtjylland beat Rijeka 2-0 in the Liga Conferência, a home win shaped by a first-half opener and a second goal just after the interval. Cho Gue-Sung and S. Johannesen scored as the hosts kept a clean sheet at MCH Arena.

Match Summary

The opening spell produced no goal until Midtjylland broke through. Cho Gue-Sung scored in the 20th minute, Franculino with the assist, and the home side led. I. Cubelic was booked for Rijeka before half-time, in the 36th minute. The visitors still had a way back at 1-0 when the teams left the field for the interval.

That path closed almost at once after the restart. S. Johannesen scored in the 48th minute, S. Iheanacho providing the assist, and Midtjylland led by two. Toni Fruk was shown a yellow card two minutes later. Midtjylland picked up a yellow on 60 minutes as they managed the lead, and A. Barco was cautioned for Rijeka in the 89th minute. The scoreline stayed 2-0 to the end.

Key Moments

The first goal changed the terms of the night. Rijeka had matched Midtjylland for 20 minutes without conceding. Once behind, they had to chase an away game that had already slipped on the scoreboard.

The strike so soon after half-time removed the comeback. Rijeka had reached the break only a goal down. Conceding again before the second half had settled left them needing two goals and gave Midtjylland a cushion they could protect.

Discipline never produced a sending-off, yet the cautions clustered around Rijeka after they fell two behind. Three yellows for the visitors, against one for Midtjylland, marked a second half spent trying to recover.

Match Statistics

The corner count was close, Midtjylland 5 and Rijeka 4, a slim set-piece edge for the home side. Yellow cards ran clearer the other way: one for Midtjylland and three for Rijeka. Neither team finished with a red card, and B. Berke completed the match with eleven players on each side.
